CBGB screening at the West End Cinema in Washington, DC, October 30, 2013, 8pm.
Afterward, there was a Q&A with co-producer Andre Danylevich and actress Katherine DuBois, both of whom are from the greater DC metropolitan area. DuBois played Genya Ravan’s best friend who got sprayed with whipped cream by Stana…
They each answered a question about Stana, and I am paraphrasing liberally here:
Audience member: How did they go about casting Stana Katic as Genya Ravan? Did she audition?
Andre: No, she didn’t audition. They did a lot of the casting based on looks. The writer-producers wanted to find actors that really resembled the characters, and Stana had the right look, just fit the part.
Katherine: She really had a strong presence when she walked on the set. A way about her. I could see why she plays a cop on TV! But once I got comfortable, or got over being intimidated (she was laughing at herself a bit here), she was really warm and fun to work with.
The two of them will be hosting another screening at the AFI Silver Theater in Silver Spring, MD, Friday, November 1, at 9:00pm.
